Memorable Moments in an Alien World

{September 26, 2011}   Why You Should Always Offer to Drive

I signed a contract to stay with someone I met on craigslist (the place where dreams come true) for the rest of the month in exchange for $400. When I arrived at her apartment, I was greeted by an angry-looking scary chick that I would come to know as one of this girl’s best friends. They were going out to dinner and invited me along, but as I sensed a degree of hostility from my new roommate’s friend, I passed. My roommate pleaded for me to join them and so I did. As we walked out I thought, “Maybe you should offer to drive, Amanda.” Psh! I just drove 2.5 hours to get here. Forget it.

Moments later I was regretting that line of thinking, for when we got in her friend’s truck, she had to blow into a breathalyzer to start the engine.

THAT is the start of a great week! Much, much more to come…

This is the kind of commitment I am                                                                                                           hoping to see more of while I live in LA.
